What is SVB?

The SVB (Sociale Verzerkeringsbank) is a Dutch institution operating within the Dutch social security system (sociaal Verzekeringsstelsel). It is responsible for granting and paying social benefits to financially disadvantaged people who cannot support themselves for various reasons - unemployment, disability, illness and retirement. It is also the body responsible for paying child allowances (Kinderbijslag) and old-age pensions (AOW).
