Belastingdienst in the Netherlands - how it works.

The day-to-day operation of the tax office in the Netherlands Belastingdienst looks a little different than, for example, in Romania, Poland or Bulgaria. The Dutch office, before fining a taxpayer for at least missing a tax return deadline, first sends a minimum of one written summons regarding the obligation to pay. Such a letter cannot be ignored, but only to settle the financial arrears specified in it as soon as possible.

Belastingdienst in the Netherlands - Zorgtoeslag

For people with low income in the Netherlands, the Belastingdienst tax office, or more precisely, the Toeslagen office cell, can pay the so-called Zorgtoeslag, which is a subsidy for compulsory health insurance in the Netherlands. Such a subsidy can be claimed when the Dutch taxpayer's annual income is no more than €30,000. The safest method of applying for the insurance subsidy in the Netherlands is to apply online, because when applying by the traditional method, on paper, the Belastingdienst does not send any confirmation of receipt of such a letter.

If the documents are submitted after the deadline, Belastingdienst will still pay us the money, but you will have to wait a little longer - from 6 months to even 3 years. As a rule, however, money from tax refunds from the Netherlands appear in taxpayers' accounts after 3 or 4 months.
